ABOUT Deborah Flam, M.A., LAC, PMH-C
I have always been very passionate about helping people. After graduating with my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Georgian Court University, I went on to pursue my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgian Court University.
I completed my internship at Georgian Court University’s Counseling Center. I absolutely loved working with college students! College students are so unique in the way that they chose to come to counseling and have a strong desire to change and grow. Working at a university’s counseling center inspired me to make the move to private practice. It gave me insight into what it looks like working as a collaborative team!
I live in Ocean County with my husband and our toddler. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, connecting with nature, and feeding the ducks with my son!
APPROACH TO THERAPY
I believe in creating a safe and warm space for my clients to share their emotions and experiences.
I aim to validate my client’s feelings and to help them recognize that they are not alone. It can feel incredibly painful and isolating while one is struggling. I truly believe in holding space with my clients and supporting them through the process.
PERINATAL MENTAL HEALTH
I completed my Perinatal Mental Health Certification through Postpartum Support International. I received specialized training in treating individuals who are struggling with infertility, perinatal loss, traumatic birth, childbearing sexual abuse survivors, and to those experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
I truly believe in the mission statement from PSI, “You are not alone, you are not to blame, and with help you will be well.”
The transition into motherhood is such an incredible time but it also brings about so many struggles for women. I am here to help you with any issue you may be experiencing during this time and I will be your biggest support system!
I facilitate a perinatal support group for Postpartum Support International and an infertility support group for Yesh Tikva.
